HUNTINGTON — A Huntington woman is suing Classic Liquors for injuries from a fall.
Joyce Wright was leaving her place of employment at Same Old Place and heading to her car on Feb. 16, 2021, when she slipped and fell due to dangerous and hazardous conditions on the ground, according to a complaint filed in Cabell Circuit Court.
Wright claims the defendant had allowed ice to accumulate in the parking lot.
"The Plaintiff's fall was a direct and proximate result of the careless, negligent and reckless conduct of the Defendant..." the complaint states.
Wright claims she suffered from a wedge compression fracture, pelvic fractures, lower back pain, pain in both hips and legs, pain in her right knee, rib pain, numbness in her left foot and other personal injuries as a result of the fall.
As a result of her injuries, Wright incurred medical expenses, lost wages, great pain and suffering, inconvenience, embarrassment and mental anguish, according to the suit.
Wright claims the defendant failed to properly maintain the property to avoid dangerous hazards existing at or around the property and failed to thoroughly inspect the property where she was caused to fall.
Wright is seeking compensatory damages. She is represented by Thomas D. Hall of the Law Office of Hall & Copteas.
The case is assigned to Circuit Judge Gregory Howard Jr.
