CHARLESTON – A chiropractor has sued a Charleston law firm seeking payment for services provided to a client.

William V. Jordan, D.C., doing business as Valley Spine & Injury Center filed his complaint September 13 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Farmer Cline & Campbell as well as Brittany Carol Elkins.

According to the complaint, Elkins was involved in a motor vehicle accident on September 6, 2019. On April 1, 2021, Elkins hired the law firm to represent to represent her in regards to her injuries from the accident. From January 15, 2021, to December 23, 2021, Elkins was treated by Jordan for those injuries on numerous occasions. The bill for those services totaled $11,047.

Since the end of Elkins’ treatment, Jordan said he has communicated with the law firm numerous times about payment for those services through a UCC lien executed by Elkins in favor of Jordan.

Jordan says a settlement has been reached for Elkins’ accident by the law firm with an insurance company. But he says both the firm and Elkins have refused and continue to refuse to disclose the terms and conditions of the settlement.

He seeks an accounting to determine what monies were paid to the defendants, other medical providers, insurers, attorney fees, costs and other monies from the settlement.

Jordan seeks an order directing the law firm to provide that information to him, and he says he reserves the right to file an amended complaint if one or more of the defendants is responsible for paying him for treating Elkins. He also seeks court costs, attorney fees and other relief.
