Man blames downed Suddenlink cable line for motorcycle accident

CHARLESTON — A man is suing Suddenlink claiming he was injured while driving his motorcycle due to a downed cable line.

Cebridge Acquisition, Cequel III Communications I, Cequel III Communications II, Altice USA, Altice Technical Services US Corp., Altice Technical Services US, Universal Cable Holdings Inc., Cable Systems Inc. and John Doe Defendants were all named as defendants in the suit. The defendants are doing business as Suddenlink.

Charles Taylor was riding his motorcycle near Chestnut Street and Fairview Acres in South Charleston on Aug. 26, 2021, when he was struck by a partially downed cable line hanging from a power pole, according to a complaint filed in Kanawha Circuit Court.

The incident caused Taylor to be ejected from his motorcycle and land on the asphalt, causing him injuries, according to the suit.

Taylor claims the defendants owed a duty of care to maintain, service, inspect and repair the downed cable and failed to take adequate and appropriate action to do so.

He claims the defendants were negligent and caused his injuries, loss of capacity to enjoy life and medical expenses.

Taylor is seeking compensatory damages. with pre- and post-judgment interest. He is represented by Dan R. Snuffer in Charleston.
