Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP has recognized Meg Thrasher and Debbie Trotter with Jean D. Nunn Excellence Awards.

The awards are named after Jean D. Nunn, the firm’s first paralegal coordinator. Recipients demonstrate high-quality work, dedication to client service, strong personal and professional ethics, leadership recognized by peers, and ongoing contributions to the paralegal program, the firm, and the legal profession.

Thrasher was recognized for her dedication and instrumental role in fostering talent and contributing to her team’s success. She mentored a paralegal student as part of Greenville Technical College’s ABA-approved internship program, giving her insights into litigation and corporate work.

Thrasher has also played a pivotal role in ongoing arbitration, quickly getting up to speed, preparing files meticulously, and providing invaluable assistance. “Our team's ability to represent the firm to the fullest extent would not have been possible without Meg's unwavering support,” one attorney noted in her nomination.

Trotter was selected for the honor for her industrious and creative approach to working on client teams. She routinely handles all lender survey and title objections and comments for affordable house closings, which means she communicates with the surveyors and the title underwriters to resolve objections of the lenders.

“She is creative in addressing concerns by finding alternative ways to appease the parties,” wrote her nominator. In one example, Trotter found a quick solution to an issue that saved the team’s client from missing the closing date. The client said the response was “genius.”
