WINFIELD — Four Putnam County residents are suing Frontier Communications for damages done to their sewer.
Citizens Telecommunications Company of West Virginia; Frontier Communications Corporate Services; Utili-Comm South; and Gudenkauf were all defendants in the suit.
Trebor Mott and Ashley Mott, husband and wife; and Mercedes Graley and Griffin Graley, siblings, claim that in February, they noticed four to six inches of raw sewage in the basement of their home and contacted Hurricane and Frontier regarding the issue, according to a complaint filed in Putnam Circuit Court.
The plaintiffs claim the defendants "clearly and inarguably" admitted fault for the sewage event and informed the plaintiffs that while installing fiberoptic cable in late 2022, they had damaged and/or punctured sewage lines.
The defendants fixed the errors on Feb. 17, but not before hundreds of gallons of raw sewage had flowed through the plaintiffs' home.
The plaintiffs claim the defendants caused them to incur considerable monetary expenses. They claim the defendants were negligent and trespassed onto the the plaintiffs' property.
The plaintiffs are seeking compensatory and punitive damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. They are represented by Shawn R. Romano and Miles B. Berger of Romano & Associates in Charleston.
