CHARLESTON – A Kanawha County woman says she was injured after slipping on dog feces while shopping at PetSmart.

Carol Campbell filed her complaint December 15 in Kanawha Circuit Court against PetSmart.

According to the complaint, Campbell was shopping at the South Charleston PetSmart location on December 20, 2021, when she slipped on dog feces and fell the floor. She says she suffered serious and permanent injuries.

She says the defendants breached the duty of care by failing to provide a safe and secure shopping environment and failed to warn of the dangerous condition.

In addition to her physical injuries, Campbell says she has sustained and will sustain medical expenses, lost wages, other special damages, loss of ability to enjoy life, annoyance, aggravation and mental anguish.

She seeks compensatory damages, pre- and post-judgment interests, court costs, attorney fees and other relief.

Campbell is being represented by Truman C. Griffith of Warner Law Offices in Charleston. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Tera Salango.
