WINFIELD – A Putnam County paramedic claims he was injured by a patient while on duty.

Christopher Bailey filed a lawsuit in Putnam Circuit Court against Logan Carter.

According to the complaint, Bailey was working December 26, 2021, when he and his team were called to a scene in Hometown where Carter was found unconscious in his car.

The complaint claims the paramedics attempted to wake Carter and gain access to the vehicle. However, when Bailey tried to shut off the engine, Carter allegedly put the car in reverse and hit him, causing injuries. The plaintiff accuses Carter of negligence and reckless behavior including failing to maintain control of his vehicle and operating under the influence.

As a result of the incident, Bailey says he incurred various medical expenses and suffered physical injuries including damage to his left leg, ankle, hip, hand, wrist and neck. He also alleges loss of wages and enjoyment of life due to permanent impairments.

Bailey seeks compensatory damages, punitive damages, pre- and post-judgment interests, court costs and other relief. He is being represented by Stephen B. Farmer, Robert A. Campbell and Jeffrey T. Jones of Farmer Cline & Campbell in Charleston.
