Former Cabell County Prosecutor Sean K. “Corky” Hammers hold a public investiture ceremony at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, January 5, in Courtroom No. 1 at the Cabell County Courthouse in Huntington.
Governor Jim Justice appointed Judge Hammers to the bench in the Sixth Judicial Circuit (Cabell County) to replace Judge Christopher Chiles, who retired October 31. Judge Hammers was sworn in during a private ceremony and began work on Tuesday, January 2. The ceremony on Friday is open to the public and the media, all of whom are asked to enter the building via the Fourth Avenue entrance. Judge Hammers is a graduate of Barboursville High School (1986) and has a bachelor’s degree in Business and Economics from Marshall University (1990). He has a law degree from Capital University Law School in Columbus (1993).
He served as an assistant Cabell County prosecutor for 17 years before becoming prosecutor in 2014. Judge Hammers lives in Barboursville with his wife, Beth, and two children.
