Attorney Sharon O. Flanery, Chair of Steptoe & Johnson’s Energy & Natural Resource Department, has been named the Senior Vice Chair of the Institute for Energy Law (IEL). “The Institute for Energy Law provides excellent educational programs in the energy sector, as well as opportunities to discuss energy issues with top legal and industry professionals,” Flanery said. “I am looking forward to continuing the IEL’s program opportunities in topics across the sector.”
In her role, Sharon will be supporting the leadership team, executive committee, and other committees and programs of the IEL. She will serve as the first Senior Vice Chair from Appalachia in over 40 years.
The Institute for Energy Law was founded in 1959 and is one of the divisions of The Center for American and International Law. The membership organization provides education and professional opportunities for lawyers and other professionals in the energy industry through courses, conferences, scholarly publications, and membership activities.
