WINFIELD – A man has sued a trio of companies after he sustained severe injuries in a warehouse fork truck accident.

Robert Haynes filed his complaint in Putnam Circuit Court against Jefferds Corporation, Crosby Management Group and C&R Material Handling LLC.

According to the complaint, Haynes was working September 20, 2022, at Tyler Mountain Water Company. He was operating a Toyota fork truck when he fell from the vehicle while trying to warn a temporary worker who had walked into his path. He says the seat safety switch on the truck, which should have stopped the vehicle once Haynes left the seat, was inoperable. As a result, the truck continued moving forward and pinned Haynes between a wall and the vehicle.

Haynes claims the defendants failed to regularly inspect, maintain and repair the fork truck as required. He also says the defendants sold the faulty equipment to his employer without providing proper warning about its condition.

Haynes is seeking compensation for his physical injuries and emotional distress caused by the accident. He is being represented by Connor Robertson of Robertson Law in Hurricane and by David A. Sims of the Law Offices of David A. Sims in Vienna.
