Man says he was bitten by dog while on the job

WINFIELD – A St. Albans man says he was attacked by a dog while working at a Putnam County business.

Joseph Guy filed his complaint in Putnam Circuit Court against Vandalia Growers LLC and Vandalia Growers USA LLC.

According to the complaint, Guy was at the business in Buffalo on March 21, 2023, to complete electrical contract work when an unsecured German Shepherd attacked him.

Guy says he suffered physical and emotional injuries, including bites to his lower extremities.

He seeks compensatory damages for past and future mental anguish and distress, pain and suffering, medical expenses, aggravation, annoyance, inconvenience and loss of enjoyment of life. He also seeks lost wages, punitive damages, pre- and post-judgment interests, attorney fees, court costs and other relief.

Guy is being represented by Thomas H. Peyton of Peyton Law Firm in Nitro. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Phillip Stowers.
