CHARLESTON – Gov. Jim Justice has made two appointments to fill vacant judicial seats.

On May 29, Justice announced he appointed Ryan Flanigan to the Mercer Circuit Court seat vacated by Judge Derek Swope's retirement.

Flanigan received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Political Science at Marshall University and graduated from West Virginia University College of Law in 2002. He has practiced law for more than 20 years.

Flanigan was born and raised in Princeton by his parents, Pete and Rita Flanigan, alongside his brother Jonathan.

Justice also announced he has appointed Sarah Dixon to the Cabell County Family Court position vacated by Judge Jason Spears, who became the county’s prosecuting attorney earlier this year.
