ELKINS – A Randolph County woman says she began losing hair after using a Revlon dye.

Caroline S. Bailor filed her complaint in federal court against Revlon Inc. and Revlon Consumer Products Corporation.

According to the complaint, Bailor purchased Revlon’s 42 Medium Auburn Hair Dye – Colorsilk Beautiful Color at Walmart on July 7, 2022. She says she had used the dye for at least 10 years without incident.

The next day when she applied the dye to her hair, she says her hair immediately began falling out. She says the condition has continued to this day. She says she also suffered other injuries, including chemical burns.

Bailor also says she was injured in and about her head, hair, scalp, skin, muscle tissues, body chemistry, psyche and other body parts in a permanent and lasting nature. She says she has and will continue to suffer great pain of body and mind because of the incident.

She also says she has been prevented from carrying out the duties and responsibilities of her life and has been prevented from leading her life socially and recreationally as she had prior to the incident. She also says she has suffered a reduction in her capacity to earn a living.

The complaint does not mention Bailor's occupation or how the alleged hair loss affected her ability to earn a living.

On July 9, 2022, Bailor says she returned the dye to Walmart because it was defective.

Bailor accuses the defendants of strict liability, negligence and breach of warranty.

She seeks compensatory damages for past and future medical and life care expenses, lost wages, loss of earning capacity, loss of services and all other special damages, general damages for past and future pain and suffering, mental anguish, permanent injury, inconvenience, loss of society, service and companionship, loss of enjoyment of life, emotional distress, pre- and post-judgment interests, court costs, attorney fees and other relief.

Bailor is being represented by James A. Villanova and Michael E. Metro of Villanova Law Offices in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
