Ronda L. Harvey and Ashley Hardesty Odell have recently joined the Charleston and Morgantown offices of Steptoe & Johnson PLLC. Harvey joins the firm’s Labor & Employment department in Charleston while Odell joins the Labor & Employment department in Morgantown. Both bring robust experience in advising, representing, and defending national, regional, and local employers in a variety of workplace issues.
“Ronda and Ashley are wonderful additions to our firm,” said Christopher L. Slaughter, CEO of Steptoe & Johnson. “I have known and respected each of them for many years. They are seasoned litigators, with national experience in big cases, and they have decades of experience advising employers and defending them in employment cases. They will help us grow our practice in several areas.”
Harvey represents Fortune 500 companies and has served as lead trial counsel in over 200 deliberate intent lawsuits in West Virginia. She currently serves as a national litigation counsel for a major grocery store and pharmacy chain and was appointed a member of the National Pharmacy Committee – a group of attorneys representing the country’s largest pharmacies in the nationwide multidistrict litigation on opioids. Harvey is a trusted advisor to employers on labor and employment law issues, and also has experience representing defendants in mass tort and complex products liability civil actions.
Odell has over twenty years of experience handling labor and employment issues for employers and, with Harvey, serves as co-national litigation counsel for a major grocery store and pharmacy chain. Her clients turn to her for her efficient case management in complex employment litigation involving many issues, including workplace discrimination and harassment, wage and hour claims, employee handbook claims, and workplace safety. In addition to her practice area focuses, she continues to manage other litigation matters involving business disputes, commercial collections, construction litigation, property damage and personal injury defense.
Harvey and Odell earned their bachelor’s degrees from West Virginia University and law degrees from West Virginia University College of Law.
