Shawn Morgan Selected for 2024 Lawyers & Leaders Award

Steptoe & Johnson’s Shawn Morgan was recently selected for the 2024 Lawyers & Leaders award by West Virginia Executive Magazine and West Virginia University College of Law. The recognition is given to select professionals who practice law in West Virginia and make a positive impact in the state and across the nation, dedicating their careers to serving others and their communities, and are leaving a lasting mark on the legal profession.

In addition to her practice, Morgan’s role as the Office Managing Member in Bridgeport offers numerous opportunities for contributions to the community, as Steptoe & Johnson actively encourages its employees to give back to their communities. In addition to regular, consistent support of community organizations, the firm hosts an annual Firmwide Day of Service, during which members of the Bridgeport office engage in various activities such as landscaping at the city pool, painting and assembling furniture, and packing birthday boxes for children in foster care. Additionally, the Bridgeport office prepares and provides hundreds of lunches on a quarterly basis to local veterans traveling for medical treatment.

Morgan plays an active role in her community, serving as chair of the Hotsinpiller Memorial Foundation, Inc., and as a board member for the Harrison County Court Appointed Special Advocates. She also chairs the Bridgeport Police Civil Service Commission and is a leader for the Bridgeport Chiefs 4-H Club. She participates in the West Virginia State Bar Women in the Profession committee, has represented the Northern District of West Virginia on the Fourth Circuit Criminal Justice Act Appellate Panel, and has held several positions, including president, in the Harrison County Bar Association. Morgan also is on the Advisory Committee for West Virginia University’s Division for Land- Grant Engagement and on the Visiting Committee for WVU’s Extension Service.
