Steptoe & Johnson PLLC is pleased to announce that two of its attorneys, Bridget D. Furbee and Brian D. Gallagher, have been selected by the West Virginia Bar Foundation Board of Directors as 2025 Bar Foundation Fellows. The honor is given to attorneys whose professional, public, and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the welfare of their communities and honorable service to the legal profession.

Furbee serves energy clients from the firm’s Bridgeport office. She has extensive experience leading clients through major transactions as well as litigation and regulatory proceedings. She is a former in-house counsel for Fortune 500 energy companies where she was responsible for legal issues related to gas exploration and production in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. In addition to her practice, Furbee is a member of numerous industry groups and serves as a board member of Legal Aid of West Virginia.

Gallagher is the Chair of the firm’s Business Department and practices in the Morgantown office where he advises clients on a wide variety of commercial and residential development projects. Gallagher has helped clients develop smaller, single-project sites to large, multi-tenant, mixed-use developments. In addition to his practice, Gallagher has served a number of community organizations including the Morgantown Area Chamber of Commerce, the United Way of Monongalia and Preston County, and the Wes Mon Youth Association.

The West Virginia Bar Foundation began their Fellows recognition in 1999. Furbee and Gallagher join 27 other Steptoe & Johnson attorneys who have been selected as Fellows.

The West Virginia Bar Foundation awards grants to nonprofit organizations that are involved in programs and activities to improve the administration of justice and educate citizens about their rights and responsibilities under the law in West Virginia.
