Healthsouth

By KYLA ASBURY

HUNTINGTON – A woman is suing Healthsouth Corporation after she claims it is responsible for her mother's death.

On May 14, 2013, Ingram Sue Holley was a patient at the defendant's rehabilitation center, according to a complaint filed May 22 in Cabell Circuit Court.

Ruth A. Walker claims prior to Holley's admission, she suffered a stroke, which left her paralyzed on her left side.

The defendant, by and through its employees, carelessly, recklessly, negligently, willfully, wantonly, maliciously and unlawfully left Holley unattended in her room, sitting in a wheelchair, according to the suit.

Walker claims Holley fell out of her wheelchair and suffered injuries to her body and extremities.

Holley suffered physical and mental pain and suffering and incurred expenses for hospital services, physicians and traveling.

Holley died June 5, 2013.

Walker is seeking compensatory damages. She is being represented by R.R. Fredeking II of Fredeking & Fredeking Law Offices LC.

The case is assigned to Circuit Judge F. Jane Hustead.
