LOGAN -- An area doctor and hospital are accused of negligence in failing to treat a woman with chest pains.
Gary Damron, as executor of the Estate of Stephanie Damron, filed suit May 8 in Logan Circuit Court against Logan General Hospital LLC, doing business as Logan Regional Medical Center, and Thomas Cortellesi D.O.
According to the complaint, on July 9 Stephanie Damron reported to the defendant hospital complaining of chest pain and was placed in the care of Cortellesi. The suit states after being examined, Stephanie was not admitted to the hospital but was sent home.
She later died July 13.
The plaintiff is accusing the defendants of medical negligence, claiming their careless treatment of Stephanie contributed to her death. Gary Damron is seeking compensatory and punitive damages.
He is being represented by attorneys Richard D. Lindsay of Tabor, Lindsay & Associates and Bruce Freeman of Freeman & Chiartis. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Roger L. Perry.
