Cabell school bus driver files suit after accident

Schoolbus

HUNTINGTON -- A school bus driver is suing several involved parties after an accident in Cabell County.

Fred Shultz filed suit April 22 in Cabell Circuit Court against Matthew Smith, Teresa McComas, the Cabell County Board of Education and Farmers and Mechanics Insurance Companies.

According to the suit, Shultz was working as a bus driver for the defendant Board of Education on April 23, 2012, and driving a bus north on W.Va. 10. At that time a vehicle driven by McComas, and insured by Smith, crossed the center line and crashed into the bus. The plaintiff has suffered severe and permanent injuries as a result of the defendants' negligence, which caused the collision, the suit states.

Shultz is seeking damages in an amount to be determined by the court.

He is being represented by attorney Michael S. Bailey of Bailey & Howard PLLC. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Christopher D. Chiles.
