WHEELING -- A lawsuit has been filed after a building demolition in Wheeling allegedly resulted in unintended property damage.
JJBBD LLC, doing business as Steel Valley Properties, filed suit May 30 in Ohio Circuit Court against Dore & Associates Contracting Inc.
According to the complaint, the defendant was contracted to demolish several buildings in the 1100 block of Main Street in Wheeling on May 30, 2012. During the demolition Dore caused substantial property damage, including to the parking lot, concrete parking blocks, retaining wall, landscape wall caps, trees and bushes, concrete base and light pole and other damages, the suit states.
The defendant is accused of failing to adequately secure the demolition site, failing to warn of the hazardous condition at the site caused by the demolition, failing to maintain the demolition area, failing to adequately train employees in charge of the demolition, failing to adequately remedy the damage and violating city, county and state ordinances and/or industry standards.
The plaintiff is seeking compensatory damages in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits, pre- and post-judgment interest and costs.
It is represented by Wheeling attorneys Jacob M. Robinson and Adam M. Hanasky of Robinson Law Offices. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge David J. Sims.
