Woman slips on soda spill, sues Kroger

LOGAN -- A woman is suing after allegedly being injured while shopping at Kroger.

Helen L. Bias filed suit June 23 in Logan Circuit Court against The Kroger Co.

According to the complaint, on Aug. 8, 2012, the plaintiff and her husband were shopping at a Kroger store in Holden when she slipped on soda which had been spilled on the floor earlier by another customer.

The defendant is being sued for failing to promptly clean up the spill and failing to properly warn others of the hazardous condition which led to the plaintiff's fall and injuries.

Bias is seeking damages for medical bills, civil penalties, exemplary damages, compensatory damages, punitive damages and costs.

She is represented by Charleston attorney Samuel A. Hrko of The Segal Law Firm. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Roger L. Perry.
