CHARLESTON -- An Ohio woman is suing after she allegedly was injured while visiting her mother at a hospital.
Patty L. Dresdow filed suit June 25 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Charleston Hospital Inc., doing business as Saint Francis Hospital.
According to the complaint, on May 28, 2013, Dresdow was visiting her mother at the defendant hospital at 333 Laidley St., Charleston, when she tripped on a telephone cord stretched across the skilled nursing unit room. As a result of the fall, Dresdow suffered severe and permanent injuries including a left hip fracture which required surgery, the suit states.
The defendant is accused of creating a hazardous condition and breaching its duty of providing reasonable care for the hospital's common areas.
Dresdow is seeking damages, interest and costs.
She is represented by Charleston attorneys Travis A. Griffith and Michael A. Olivio of Olivio & Griffith PLLC. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Louis H. Bloom.
