Md. woman says unsafe floor at VFW caused injury

Slipandfall

KEYSER – A Maryland woman says unsafe flooring at a Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Ridgeley caused her to fall and sustain injury to her head, body and limbs.

Debra Zollner of Cumberland, Md., filed a complaint July 10 in Mineral Circuit Court against Ridgeley VFW Gold Star Post 6452.

Zollner says she was entering the building July 24, 2012, when a defective rubber floor mat caused her to slip and fall as she stepped inside. She fell into the door while trying to catch herself with her left hand and right leg, the suit states.

The Ridgeley VFW post was negligent in failing to warn individuals of the hazard on the premises and caused a dangerous condition on the premises, the civil suit alleges.

The plaintiff seeks compensatory damages against the defendants in an amount to be determined at a jury trial. She also seeks costs of the court case, pre- and post-judgment interest.

She is represented by attorney David E. Furrer of Siegel, Tully and Furrer in Cumberland, Md.

Mineral Circuit Court case number 14-C-89
