Former Loop Pharmacy worker blames job loss on sexual harassment

Looppharmacy

CHARLESTON – A woman says she was fired from her job after her supervisor allegedly repeatedly sexually harassed her.

La'Mia Sayles filed a lawsuit Aug. 27 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Loop Plaza Pharmacy and Matthew Brinkley.

In her complaint, Sayles alleges she was working for Loop Plaza when Brinkley sexually harassed her physically and verbally.

In January 2014, Loop became aware of the harassment directed toward Sayles but failed to fire Brinkley for it, according to the complaint.

Loop and Brinkley violated the West Virginia Human Rights Act, causing Sayles to suffer indignity, embarrassment, humiliation, emotional distress, annoyance and inconvenience, the suit states.

In her complaint, Sayles seeks unspecified damages, plus pre-judgment interest, attorney fees, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Mark A. Atkinson and John-Mark Atkinson of Atkinson and Polak in Charleston, and Charles R. Webb of the Webb Law Firm in Charleston will represent her.

Circuit Judge Paul Zakaib Jr. has been assigned to the case.
