ROMNEY – A Hampshire County woman is suing over claims she was injured while throwing away trash at an elementary school.

Anita R. Eye filed a lawsuit Sept. 30 in Hampshire Circuit Court against United Disposal Service and United Disposal Services Inc.

According to the complaint, Eye was removing garbage from Augusta Elementary School in her employment with the Hampshire County Board of Education on Oct. 11, 2013, when she attempted to deposit the trash into a large receptacle provided by the defendants, slipped on a slick substance leaking from the receptacle, and fell, sustaining injuries. Eye says she suffered a concussion and injuries to her shoulder, neck and back. The defendants are accused of failing to provide a leak-free container for the trash.

Eye seeks compensatory damages and attorney fees.

She is represented by attorney Henry E. Wood III of Wood Law Office in Charleston. The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Charles E. Parsons.
