CHARLESTON -- Gov. Joe Manchin on Thursday joined officials from Catalfer SRL, an Italian-based company, to announce the location of its new North American subsidiary, New Finishing Line LLC, in the Kanawha Valley.
A two-generation, family-owned business celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2007, Catalfer SRL manufacturers a diverse line of chemicals, tools and abrasives for the automotive, wood and marine industries. New Finishing Line LLC will locate in the Charleston Area Alliance incubator and begin warehousing and distribution of Catalfer's products throughout the North American market from its West Virginia base of operations.
"Today's announcement further confirms that West Virginia is sending a strong message to the global business community and providing many advantages as a strategic North American location," the governor said. "We appreciate New Finishing Line's investment in West Virginia and look forward to working with the company as it continues its growth in the North American market."
A large sales force will promote New Finishing Line's products throughout the North and South American markets. The company plans to begin looking for a permanent site in West Virginia soon to manufacture and prepare final assembly operations – its first North American manufacturing site – creating as many as 40 new jobs by 2008.
"We chose the state of West Virginia because of its strategic location, a more competitive cost environment than in other states, a great level of professionalism and the people's dedication," said Pasquale Catalfamo, president and CEO of Catalfer SRL. "The state is an excellent choice because of its business community's expertise and its warm welcome."
The Charleston Area Alliance and the West Virginia Development Office helped the company to locate in West Virginia.
