CHARLESTON - Gov. Joe Manchin on Monday met with members of the South Charleston Stamping Plant Task Force, a working group he has established to identify ways that federal, state, county and community partners can work together to stimulate, sustain and/or attract economic activity to the South Charleston Industrial Park.
The South Charleston Stamping Plant Task Force is charged with the task of developing a plan to address the recently announced planned closure of Union Stamping's production facility in South Charleston.
"This Task Force will work collectively to make decisions that are in the best interest of the community, region and state, and, most importantly, the employees and families who depend upon good paying jobs associated with the South Charleston Stamping Plant facility," Manchin said in a press release. "We have a great group of partners involved in this effort that are committed to working toward the end goal of preserving the long-term economic viability of the Stamping Plant site, and expanding the number of economic opportunities at the site in the future."
