Governor announces disability grant for Workforce West Virginia

CHARLESTON -- Gov. Joe Manchin last week announced a Disability Program Navigator (DPN) grant award of more than $1.4 million for WORKFORCE West Virginia.

"To truly have successful economic development we must make investments in today and tomorrow's workforce," Manchin said. "I am pleased that WORKFORCE West Virginia has received this significant grant, and I am confident that this money will serve as a vital tool to assist West Virginians with disabilities as they return to the workforce."

The DPN is the U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration's (ETA) signature effort at assuring that individuals with disabilities have access to the full array of employment and training services and benefits. ETA has partnered with the Social Security Administration (SSA) on the DPN initiative so that Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients can gain meaningful employment and career opportunities.

WORKFORCE West Virginia, a division of the Department of Commerce, is a cooperative effort to provide one-stop delivery of career services to job seekers, employers, and other interested individuals.
