CHARLESTON -- Gov. Joe Manchin III last week announced that West Virginia has been chosen to host the National Governors Association's Seminar for New Governors for the second consecutive time.

The seminar will be held Nov. 17-19 at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs.

"It is such an honor for West Virginia to host this vital seminar for the second time," Manchin said. "I attended the seminar in '04 as a newly elected governor, and I must say that I found the workshops and the discussions with incumbent governors extremely helpful.

"Hosting this national event gives West Virginia an opportunity to showcase the great strides that we are making in the realm of economic development, health care and education – showing the rest of the nation how we are bringing individuals from different walks of life together to find solutions for today's challenges and examine new opportunities."

The seminar provides an executive retreat setting for newly elected governors to meet with incumbent governors who serve as seminar faculty. The program focuses on the transition into office, covering topics such as selecting staff and identifying and articulating a message.

The Seminar for New Governors is held every two years. The last event was hosted by former West Virginia Gov. Bob Wise at The Greenbrier.
