CHARLESTON -- To avoid conflict with another domestic violence awareness event, the Domestic Violence Counseling Center and the Healing Through Creativity program of Hurricane's Museum in the Community is moving the dinner its hosting back a week.
Originally scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 26 at the Embassy Suites in Charleston, the dinner, entitled "If We Can Do It, So Can You" featuring the testimonies of five domestic violence survivors, is now scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 2.
The time for the event will remain the same with a reception at 6 p.m., and dinner at 6:30 pm. The dinner is open to the public, but RSVP's must be received by Tuesday Oct. 31.

On Oct. 26, YWCA's Resolve Family Abuse Program will host a walk along Kanawha Boulevard to raise awareness of not only domestic, but all kinds of violence. The theme for the walk is "Shelter from the Storm" in which participants are encouraged to carry umbrellas.
The walk will start at 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church on the corner of Leon Sullivan Way and Kanawaha Boulevard, proceed eastward up the Boulevard and end at Temple Israel, just past the state Capitol.
The event will conclude with a ceremony, candlelight vigil and reception at the Temple.
