MU, museum to publish book about shipbuilding on Ohio River

POINT PLEASANT -– As part of their program dedicated to American Institutions and Civic Culture, Marshall University's John Deaver Drinko Academy will join with the Point Pleasant River Museum to debut a recently completed book that chronicles the shipbuilding history of this area of West Virginia.

The History of the Marietta Manufacturing Company was compiled by Capt. Charles H. Stone and Jack Fowler, and was edited by Lisle G. Brown. This 243-page book contains many photographs from the era and presents historical information about the shipbuilding industry in West Virginia throughout the 20th Century. The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at the Point Pleasant River Museum, which is located on the corner of First Street and Main Street, across from the Tu-Endie-Wei State Park.
