CHARLESTON -- Steptoe & Johnson PLLC announces that, effective Jan. 1, eight of its attorneys were promoted to membership, and four of its attorneys achieved "of counsel" status.

Steptoe & Johnson provides a wide range of customized legal services to business, industry and public entities throughout the state and the region from its six office locations.

Steptoe & Johnson new member attorneys:

Armando F. Benincasa concentrates his practice in the areas of environmental law, environmental litigation and administrative law. Benincasa is admitted to practice in West Virginia and is licensed to practice before the state courts, the northern and southern District Courts of West Virginia and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Benincasa received his Juris Doctorate in 1995 from the University of Virginia School of Law. He practices in the Charleston office of Steptoe & Johnson.

Susan L. Deniker focuses her practice in the area of labor and employment law, including employment discrimination, wrongful discharge, litigation, workplace injuries, wage and hour law, and providing counseling and training for employers. Her practice includes state and federal court cases, as well as cases before the West Virginia Human Rights Commission. Deniker is a member of the West Virginia Bar Association and the Harrison County Bar Association. Additionally, she is a member of the Employment Law Committee of the West Virginia Bar Association, as well as the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia. Deniker is a past president of the Criss-Cross, Inc. Board of Directors and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Lasting Impressions Child Development Center. Deniker graduated from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary, where she was a member of the Law Review. She practices in the Clarksburg office of Steptoe & Johnson.

David E. Goddard focuses his law practice in the areas of general litigation, professional liability defense and product liability. He has tried cases in both state and federal courts and has handled numerous serious medical professional liability cases, as well as complex litigation involving banks, construction companies, corporations and employer liability. Goddard is licensed to practice law before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the West Virginia Bar Association, the Harrison County Bar Association, Defense Research Institute and the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia. Goddard received his law degree from the West Virginia University College of Law, where he was recognized as a St. George Tucker Brooke fellow. He practices in the Clarksburg office of Steptoe & Johnson.

Thomas S. Kleeh concentrates his practice in labor and employment law including employment discrimination litigation, wrongful discharge, wage and hour and school law issues. Kleeh is a member of the Kanawha County Bar Association, the West Virginia State Bar and the American Bar Association as well as a member of the Kanawha Valley Chapter of the West Virginia University Alumni Association. Kleeh received his law degree from West Virginia University College of Law and served as Editor-in-Chief of the West Virginia Law Review and was a member of the M.E. Lugar Trial Association. He practices in the Charleston office of Steptoe & Johnson.

Kelly J. Little focuses her practice in the area of general litigation with an emphasis in product liability and mass and toxic torts defense as well as insurance defense. Licensed to practice law in both West Virginia and Ohio, she provides legal services to clients throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley Region. Little is a member of the West Virginia State Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, the Monongalia County Bar Association, the Harrison County Bar Association, the Washington County Bar Association, and a member and former President of the Wood County Bar Association. She is also a member of the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia, the Defense Trial Counsel Civil Justice, Amicus Briefing, and Product Liability Committees, and the West Virginia Commission on Children and the Law. Little received her law degree from Capital University Law College of Law. She practices in the Clarksburg office of Steptoe & Johnson.

Jason D. Stevens concentrates his practice in the area of long term care litigation and medical malpractice defense. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute, the West Virginia State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Stevens received his juris doctor from the West Virginia University College of Law, where he won both the George C. Baker Cup Competition and the West Virginia Invitational Trial Tournament. He also served on the Moot Court Board and was a member of the school's National Moot Court team. Stevens practices in the Charleston office of Steptoe & Johnson.

Melissa S. Watkins concentrates her practice in the areas of taxation and business and commercial planning. She is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant. Watkins is a member of the West Virginia State Bar, American Bar Association, and the Monongalia County Bar Association, as well as a member of the West Virginia Society of CPAs. She is admitted to practice before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia. Watkins received her law degree from the West Virginia University College of Law and holds a Masters of Professional Accountancy Degree from West Virginia University. She practices in the Morgantown office of Steptoe & Johnson.

Kristian E. White practices in the areas of real estate, natural resources, business organizations, commercial transactions, athlete representation, and taxation. White is a Certified Public Accountant. He is admitted to the West Virginia State Bar and is a member of the Ohio County Bar Association and the West Virginia Society of CPAs. White received his law degree from West Virginia University College of Law and is an alumnus of Leadership West Virginia and Leadership Wheeling. White sits on the board of directors of The Children's Museum Of The Ohio Valley, Inc. and Kiwanis Club of Wheeling, Inc. White practices in the Wheeling office of Steptoe & Johnson.

M. Dawn Alexander concentrates her practice in the areas of general litigation including litigation, health care, product liability and appellate law. She is licensed in the states of West Virginia and Tennessee and is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Tennessee, West Virginia, the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee, and the United States District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia. She is a member of the West Virginia and Tennessee Bar Associations, the American Health Lawyers Association and the American Bar Association. She received her law degree from Washington & Lee University School of Law in 1996, graduating magna cum laude. She practices in the Martinsburg office of Steptoe & Johnson.

Robert L. Bailey concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial and general litigation and appeals. Bailey is a member of the West Virginia Bar Association and the Kanawha County Bar Association. He received his law degree from the Washington and Lee University School of Law, where he graduated cum laude. After law school, Bailey served as judicial clerk to the Honorable Robert C. Chambers, Judge of the Southern District of West Virginia, and the Honorable Ellsworth A. Van Graafeiland, Senior Judge of the United Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He practices in the Charleston office of Steptoe & Johnson.

Jacquelyn J. Core concentrates her practice in the areas of labor and employment litigation and professional liability litigation. Core is a member of the Monongalia County Bar Association, the West Virginia State Bar, the Defense Research Institute, and the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia. She is also a member of the Association of American Geographers and the National School Board Association Council of School Attorneys. Core received her legal education at West Virginia University College of Law, where she served as Associate Chief Justice of the Appellate Moot Court Board. Core practices in the Morgantown office of Steptoe & Johnson.

Hannah B. Curry concentrates her practice in the areas of general litigation and appellate law. She is a member of the West Virginia Bar Association, the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia, the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Curry received her law degree from the West Virginia University School of Law. Curry practices in the Charleston office of Steptoe & Johnson.
