Weber
CHARLESTON -- Charleston attorney Stephen Weber has been chosen to receive the Mario Palumbo Award during the Mario Palumbo ALS Research Gala set for Jan. 20.
This award is given in recognition of Weber's services with Goodwill Industries, Kanawha County Health Department and the Dental Health Council. The event will be held at Berry Hills Country Club in Charleston and will include silent and live auctions. All proceeds will go to ALS research.
Weber, a member of Kay Casto & Chaney' Charleston office, has been on the board of directors of Goodwill Industries since 1972, and he served on Goodwill's national board of directors for two three-year terms in the 1970s.
Additionally, Weber has been appointed by the Kanawha County Commission to serve on the Kanawha-Charleston Board of Health for the past 12 years, and he has served on the Kanawha Dental Health Council since 1972, currently serving as its President.
Weber's practice for the past 30 years has been concentrated in the areas of labor and employment law and commercial litigation. His clients include hospitals, construction companies, trucking companies and media enterprises. He is a frequent lecturer on labor and employment topics to business and professional groups.
Weber received his B. S. Degree from Mount Saint Mary's College in 1962 and graduated from the West Virginia University College of Law in 1966 with his J. D. Degree. Weber also earned an LL.M. degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Law in 1969. He served on active duty as a Staff Judge Advocate in the United States Air Force with the rank of Captain.
Weber is listed in the Best Lawyers In America for his practice in labor and employment law.
Weber resides in Charleston with his wife, Amy. They have three children and five grandchildren.
The Mario Palumbo Award is named for the late public servant who was the state's attorney general and a member of the West Virginia Senate. He died of Lou Gehrig's Disease in 2004, a day after the passing of his wife Louise. The Palumbos had two sons, Chris and Corey, who is a member of the House of Delegates.
