PERSONNEL FILE: Lowther awarded advanced paralegal certificate

CHARLESTON -- Steptoe & Johnson is pleased to announce that Cindy Lowther, a paralegal in the firm's Charleston office, has recently been awarded the prestigious Advanced Certified Paralegal designation by NALA, The National Association of Legal Assistants/Paralegals.

Lowther completed requirements in March 2007 for advanced certification in the area of discovery. She is now authorized to use the "ACP" designation and may pursue advanced certification in other legal disciplines in the future.

The Advanced Paralegal Certification program by NALA is a rigorous curriculum-based design presented to emphasize learning and self discipline in the process of demonstrating mastery of specialized subject matter. To learn more about the program, visit www.nala.org

Lowther has been with Steptoe & Johnson PLLC for three years and received her CLA in 2006. She resides in Charleston with her family.

Lowther has been a member of Legal Assistants/Paralegals of Southern West Virginia (LAPSWV), an affiliated association of the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA), since 2004, where she has held the offices of Secretary and Second Vice-President. She currently holds the office of First Vice-President of LAPSWV.

Lowther is a member of NALA, a paralegal member of the West Virginia State Bar's Legal Assistants Committee, a paralegal member of the West Virginia Defense Trial Counsel, a paralegal member of the West Virginia Bar Association, a member of the Steering Committee for Kanawha County CASA Inc. and a volunteer paralegal for Legal Aid of West Virginia.
