CHARLESTON -- A new civil defense law firm recently opened in Charleston.
W. Michael Moore and Rita Massie Biser formed Moore & Biser PLLC, and the firm will handle a broad range of civil litigation.
The firm's members previously were partners at a larger Charleston-based defense firm and have more than 28 years combined litigation experience. The firm's lawyers serve as advisors and advocates for a distinguished roster of clients that includes local, national and international businesses in such fields as insurance, health care, manufacturing and retail.
Moore, a founding member, has more than 17 years of extensive experience in transportation and trucking law, construction matters, premises liability, personal injury, commercial lender liability, lemon law, products liability, insurance bad faith, and deliberate intent claims.
He is a member of the Defense Trial of Counsel of West Virginia, the Defense Research Institute, the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee of the West Virginia State Bar, and is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in West Virginia. He was also recognized in "The Best Lawyers in America 2007."
Biser, also a founding member, practices primarily in the areas of medical professional liability, insurance defense, and toxic tort. These involve medical negligence, personal injuries, employment law, premises liability, products liability, and asbestos exposure.
Currently, Biser is a member of the Board of Governors of the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia, the West Virginia State Bar , and the Defense Research Institute. She is admitted to practice before all West Virginia State Courts, as well as the United States District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of West Virginia.
Tonya P. Mullins is an associate attorney practicing general civil litigation with an emphasis in personal injury, premises liability and lemon law.
She is a member of the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia, the American Bar Association, and the West Virginia State Bar. She is admitted to practice in all West Virginia state and federal courts, as well as the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
"Our goal was to combine large-firm expertise with small-firm responsiveness to client needs," Biser said about the motivation for the new business venture. "We can now offer a level of legal counsel usually associated with larger firms plus the client service one expects from a smaller, specialty firm.
