Woman says she was sexually harassed while working at Subway

CHARLESTON - A Kanawha County woman has filed a suit against her employer and a co-worker, claiming he sexually harassed her while they worked together.

Peggy J. Martin filed a suit Oct. 23 in Kanawha Circuit Court against Hammond Group Incorporated and Denny McClure.

Hammond Group operates several Subway stores, including the one were Martin was employed. McClure was the manager at the Subway where Martin worked.

According to the suit, McClure subjected Martin to unwanted and unwelcome sexual remarks and inappropriate conduct on numerous occasions. Martin claims his actions caused her humiliation, embarrassment, emotional and mental distress, and caused her to quit.

In the three-count suit, Martin seeks to have McClure removed from his position, to be returned to hers, for the company to provide sexual harassment training and compensatory and punitive damages.

Attorney Paul M. Stroebel is representing Martin. The case has been assigned to Judge Louis Bloom.
