Knisley joins AG's Citizens Advisory Committee

CHARLESTON -- Attorney General Darrell McGraw has announced as the newest member of the Citizens Advisory Committee, John Knisely of Fairmont.

The committee is made up of about 35 active community members from around the state. The Citizens Advisory Committee was formed by McGraw in March 2007 to strengthen and expand consumer protection throughout the communities in West Virginia.

Knisely served for 23 years as regional coordinator at the West Virginia Department of Education -– Adult, Community, and Vocational Education Division in Fairmont, a federal program aimed at training and retraining the unemployed and underemployed, including displaced workers and single mothers. His duties included assisting twelve county school systems, along with their vocational and adult education personnel, in preparing training grant requests, implementing training programs, job counseling, and job placement of program enrollees.

Knisely is an active member of his community. He has served as Chairman for the Marion County United Way, the Marion County Heart Association, the Marion County Cancer Society and the Marion County Multiple Sclerosis Society. Knisely was a former Fairmont Little League coach, a member of the Marion County Parks and Recreation Commission and was an administrative assistant to the Marion County Commission that worked to establish the Marion County Transit System. In recognition of his community service, the Marion County Commission declared Jan. 5, 1996, "John Knisely Day."

A Marion county native, Knisely attended Fairview High School and graduated from Fairmont State with a Bachelor's of Science in Business and Sociology. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force.
