PERSONNEL FILE: WVU business college announces new development director

MORGANTOWN -- The West Virginia University College of Business and Economics has announced a new director of development.

Brenda Walker, formerly the planned and major gifts officer at the Morgantown Chamber of Commerce Community Visions Foundation, will join the college in the role.

"I am pleased to welcome Brenda to our college," said R. Stephen Sears, College of Business and Economics Milan Puskar Dean and professor of finance. "This is a position critical to our success, and I am confident that she has the talent, skills and commitment to help us strengthen our college during its period of growth."

A 1980 graduate of the WVU School of Journalism, Walker earned a juris doctor degree in 1983 from WVU.

She became a member of the West Virginia Bar and Federal Court Bar in 1983 and the Maryland Bar in 1989. Walker was an attorney with the United States Treasury Bureau of Public Debt from 1984-86. She was in private law practice in Morgantown from 1986-89 and in Maryland from 1989-2001.

From 2001-05, Walker was director of planned giving and major gifts for University Health Associates. She served as assistant dean for development and alumni relations at WVU's College of Law in 2005-06.

She was a member of the statewide Community Development Partnership board of directors and A Vision Shared Nonprofit Subcommittee participant.
