A total of 11 suits relating to hurricane damage claims were filed against insurance companies in Jefferson County District Court during the week of May 18 through May 23.
The following claims were filed regarding Hurricane Ike:
Mohammed Mukhtar of 8895 Phelan Blvd. in Beaumont alleges Farmers Insurance Exchange denied his claim for damages caused to his property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Mukhtar is represented by Rocky Lawdermilk of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B184-110.
Audrey Morris of 3031 Seventh St. in Port Arthur alleges National Lloyds Insurance Company denied her claim for dwelling and contents damages caused to her property after Hurricane Ike hit on Sept. 13. Morris is represented by Rocky Lawdermilk of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B184-111.
The Hughen Center of 2849 Ninth Ave. in Port Arthur alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied its claim for roof, wind and structural damages caused to its property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. TWIA denied the claim after its vice president of claims, Reggie Warren, assigned Sabine Claims Service Inc. and Allied American Adjusting Company and adjusters Pier Westra, Victor Taylor, Benny Brocato, Arthur Labrecque and Don Clark to investigate. Ralph and Jacqueline Carmon of 265 Brandywine in Beaumont allege Empire Indemnity Insurance Company and ZC Sterling Insurance Agency denied their claim for water, wind and contents damages caused to their property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Empire and ZC Sterling denied the claim after they assigned Audit Services to adjust it. In turn, Audit sent adjusters David Hansen, Chris Strutko, Bryan Mesler and James Nordblom to investigate. Robert Teate of 5970 Pinkstaff Lane in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied his claim fir dwelling, property and contents damages after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Hassan Rizvi of 6045 Barrington Ave. in Beaumont alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied his claim for damages to his property caused after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Rizvi is represented by Rocky Lawdermilk of Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: D184-131.
Billy and Sarah Eastwood of 7895 San Diego St. in Beaumont allege Standard Guaranty Insurance Copmany did not timely pay their claim for damages to their property caused by Hurricane Ike. Annie Hayes of 5421 Grant Ave. in Port Arthur alleges Texas Farmers Insurance Compansy denied her claim for roof, water, wind, foundation and structural damages caused to her home after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Hemsho Inc, doing business as Super Stop 11, of 1125 East Jefferson Dr. in Port Arthur alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied its claims for building, contents, inventory, equipment, canopy, gas pumps and sign damages caused to its property after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. It also was not sufficiently compensated for its loss of business income, the suit states. Hemsho is represented by Rocky Lawdermilk of Beaumont. Pathan Investments, doing business as Time Out 1, of 1800 Woodworth in Port Arthur alleges Texas Windstorm Insurance Association denied its claim for building, contents, inventory, equipment, canopy, gas pumps and sign damages. It also says the insurance company denied a portion of its claim for loss of business income. Jefferson County District Court case number: B184-144.
Jimmy Morris of 1320 Founder Green Circle in Pearland in Brazoria County alleges Ranchers and Farmers Mutual Insurance Company improperly paid him for his claim for replacement of his property that was damaged after Hurricane Ike struck on Sept. 13. Morris is represented by Jason M. Byrd and Wyatt D. Snider of Snider and Byrd in Beaumont. Jefferson County District Court case number: B184-145.
