CLARKSBURG -- Steptoe & Johnson, a multi-practice law firm with offices in West Virginia and Ohio, has announced that, effective Jan. 1, six of its attorneys have been promoted to membership.

Steptoe & Johnson's new member attorneys:
* Thomas L. Aman Jr. concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial transactions, commercial banking, public finance and real estate. Aman is a member of the West Virginia Bar Association, the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce, Harrison County Bar Association, National Association of Bond Lawyers, a board member of the North Central West Virginia Coalition for the Homeless, a participant in West Virginia - A Vision Shared, and a member of the Commission on Governing in the 21st Century. Aman graduated summa cum laude from West Virginia University with a degree in business administration, and went on to earn his law degree from the School of Law. Aman practices in the Clarksburg office.
* Jacquelyn J. Core concentrates her practice in the areas of labor and employment litigation and professional liability litigation and is co-chair of the firm's Long Term Care team. Core is a member of the Monongalia County Bar Association, the West Virginia State Bar, the Defense Research Institute, and the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia. She is also a member of the Association of American Geographers and the National School Board Association Council of School Attorneys. Core received her legal education at West Virginia University College of Law, where she served as Associate Chief Justice of the Appellate Moot Court Board. Core practices in the Morgantown office.
* Lori A. Dawkins focuses her practice in the area of business litigation. She began her practice with Steptoe & Johnson in 1995 following active duty as a Captain in the United States Air Force from 1988-1992, where she served in Operation Desert Storm and was the recipient of the Medal of Commendation, Air Force Achievement Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, and the Strategic Air Command Military Manager of the Year. Dawkins is a member of the West Virginia State Bar and the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Dawkins received her legal education from West Virginia University College of Law, where she served as managing editor of the West Virginia Law Review. She received her undergraduate degree from West Virginia University and holds a Master of Science degree in management science from the State University of New York. Dawkins practices in the Clarksburg office.
* Nancy A. DeFeo concentrates her practice in the areas of medical professional liability, products liability, long-term care litigation and general insurance defense. DeFeo graduated from West Virginia University College of Law, where she received the honor of Order of the Coif and the Patrick Duffy Koontz award. She also served as a staff member for the West Virginia Law Review. DeFeo also served as a writ clerk for the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia and worked as an assistant attorney general in the revenue, education and transportation division of the West Virginia State Office of the Attorney General. She received her undergraduate degree, cum laude from the University of Connecticut in Child Development as well as graduating with a degree in nursing from West Virginia University. DeFeo is admitted to practice in West Virginia and is a member of the West Virginia State Bar, the Bar Association of Monongalia County and the West Virginia Defense Trial Counsel. She also has served as a court appointed special advocate (CASA) for abused and neglected children in Monongalia County. DeFeo practices in the Morgantown office.
* Paul A. Konstanty concentrates his practice in the areas of personal injury defense, commercial transportation, long term care/nursing home litigation, insurance defense and construction law. He also represents institutions of higher education. Konstanty is a member of the West Virginia State Bar, the New York State Bar, and the Kentucky State Bar. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the West Virginia Defense Research Institute. He serves on the Board of Directors of the 'Leaps and Bounds Early Learning Center' in Teays Valley, West Virginia. Konstanty graduated cum laude from the University of Charleston (West Virginia), with a degree in political science. He graduated from Albany Law School, Union University (Albany, New York) with a juris doctor degree. Konstanty practices in the Charleston office.
* Michael B. Stuart concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate law, commercial transactions, economic development and government relations, and certain intellectual property matters. Stuart is an active member of the Small Business Committee of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Advisory Board of the West Virginia Small Business Development Center, and immediate past Chairman of the Entrepreneurship Committee of A Vision Shared. He is also the president of WV Publishing, LLC and the Publisher of WV Inc. magazine. Stuart earned his law degree from Boston University, where he served as editor of the Journal of Law & Medicine. He holds dual degrees from West Virginia University in accounting and political science. Stuart is licensed to practice law in the State of West Virginia and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Stuart practices in the Charleston office.
