PERSONNEL FILE: Estep announced as member with Jenkins Fenstermaker

HUNTINGTON -- The law firm of Jenkins Fenstermaker PLLC is pleased to announce that Michael Estep has been named a member and owner of the firm effective Jan. 1.

Estep, a West Virginia native, has been an associate with Jenkins Fenstermaker for seven and a half years. His work ethics as an attorney and dedication to Jenkins Fenstermaker's clients have made him a valuable asset to the firm.

Estep specializes in labor and employment law and employment litigation. Most recently, he represented Cabell Huntington Hospital in the contract negotiations with the Service Employees International Union. Estep represents clients in employment-related matters in state and federal court and before various administrative agencies, including the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the West Virginia Human Rights Commission, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the West Virginia Workers' Compensation Office of Judges and Board of Review.

Estep was born in Charleston. He majored in accounting at Marshall University and graduated in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. Estep earned his law degree from the West Virginia University College of Law in 2000. He was admitted to the West Virginia State Bar and the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia in 2000 and the United States Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit, in 2003.

Estep and his wife Elizabeth, a Huntington native, have a 3-year-old son named James Michael. Estep said he made the decision to practice law in his home state when he married Elizabeth in 2000. The Esteps attend Fifth Avenue Baptist Church in Huntington.
During his time in Huntington, Estep volunteered in various capacities for the United Way of the River Cities. He is a member of the American Bar Association, West Virginia Bar Association, Cabell County Bar Association and the Tri-State Society of Human Resource Management.
