CLARKSBURG -- Steptoe & Johnson announces that four of its attorneys achieved "of counsel" status effective Jan. 1.
Mario R. Bordogna concentrates his practice in the areas of employment litigation, employment discrimination, workers' compensation, employment counseling and labor–management relations. Bordogna is admitted to practice in the states of West Virginia and Pennsylvania, as well as the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Defense Trial Counsel of West Virginia and the Defense Research Institute. Bordogna received his law degree from The Dickinson School of Law, where he was a member of the Dickinson Law Review and was elected to the Editorial Board as notes editor. His undergraduate studies were completed at Allegheny College where he graduated cum laude with a degree in economics and a minor in mathematics. Bordogna practices in the Morgantown office of Steptoe & Johnson.
Jeffrey M. Cropp concentrates his practice in the area of labor and employment. Cropp is a member of the West Virginia State Bar, the Young Lawyers Section of the State Bar, and the Harrison County Bar Association. He is also a member of the Bridgeport Kiwanis Club and a graduate of Leadership Harrison class of the Harrison County Chamber of Commerce. Cropp received his law degree from West Virginia University College of Law, where he was a member of the West Virginia Law Review. He received an undergraduate degree in political science from James Madison University, where he graduated magna cum laude. Cropp practices in the Clarksburg office of Steptoe & Johnson.
Jamie L. Leary has joined the Business and Labor Departments of Steptoe & Johnson and will practice Of Counsel in the firm's Wheeling office. Leary will focus her practice in the areas of employee benefits and compensation. She received her law degree from University of Virginia School of Law, where she served as Notes Editor for the Virginia Law Review. Leary completed her undergraduate studies at Marshall University, where she was a member of the Society of Yeager Scholars. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the West Virginia State Bar and the national and local chapters of Society of Human Resource Management.
Michael T. Smith concentrates his practice in the areas of patent, copyright and trademark law, as well as other intellectual property matters. Smith is a registered patent attorney, and represents clients in matters pertaining to patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, and unfair competition law. He is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the West Virginia State Bar. He serves as the Director to the Gateway New Economy Council and is a member of the Affiliate Leadership Council at the West Virginia High Technology Consortium Foundation. Smith is also an adjunct lecturer at the WVU School of Law for patent law. He received his law degree from the University of Akron School of Law and his undergraduate degree from West Virginia University. Smith practices in the Martinsburg office of Steptoe & Johnson.
