Another Supreme Court forum set for March 19

CHARLESTON -- The West Virginia Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division and the Kanawha County Bar Association are co-hosting a Candidates' Forum for the candidates seeking one of the two seats on the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals.

The forum is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. March 19 at the Charleston Marriott.

According to WVBA Executive Director Pryce M. Haynes II, each candidate will have a 10-minute opportunity to address the audience. Then, questions will be presented to the candidates by the audience, primarily consisting of local attorneys.

"Although there have been other similar forums prior to this one, it should be particularly informative and inquisitive," Haynes said in a press release.

The five candidates for the two seats are current Chief Justice Spike Maynard, former Justice Margaret Workman, Huntington attorney Menis Ketchum, West Virginia University law professor Bob Bastress and Charleston attorney Beth Walker. Walker is the only Republican of the five.
