CHARLESTON -- David J. Hardy has joined Allen Guthrie McHugh & Thomas PLLC as a member.
Hardy's primary area of practice is coal law, including MSHA law. Specifically he advises employers about their obligations under federal and state regulations, and defends charges of violation, penalties, and investigations by government agencies for possible civil penalties and criminal prosecution.
Hardy earned his B.S.B.A. from the West Virginia University Institute of Technology in 1980 and his J.D. from the University of Tennessee in 1983. He is a member of the West Virginia State Bar and admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fourth and District of Columbia Circuits.
Hardy also is a certified public accountant, college professor and experienced speaker. He is a member of the Kanawha County Commission and serves on the boards of the Charleston Area Alliance and the Clay Center.
