Stout
HUNTINGTON -- Huddleston Bolen recently announced that firm partner Bruce L. Stout has been named an adjunct professor at the West Virginia University College of Law.
An attorney with over 25 years experience in the field of wills and estates, Stout will offer instruction to law students in estate planning, including, federal tax laws and regulations, common law, West Virginia law and the Uniform Probate Code and drafting of documents. While taking on these duties at the state's only law school, Stout will continue to service clients from the firm's Huntington, Charleston and Ashland offices.
Stout began his professorship in January at the College of Law. Stout has been honored with the AV designation from the legal industry peer-rating guide Martindale-Hubbell, is listed in the "Best Lawyers in America" and has been designated as a "West Virginia Super Lawyer" by Woodward-White. He has also been designated as a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Probate Counsel. He frequently is called upon as an expert witness in many instances by his peers throughout the United States in the area of estate litigation and matters focused on wills.
A partner in the Huntington office of Huddleston Bolen, Stout practices in the areas of estate planning, estate and trust administration and fiduciary litigation. He has been admitted to practice since 1982. A native of Columbus, Ohio, he received both his B.A. degree and his J.D. degree from the Ohio State University.
Stout is active in many legal organizations and committees. He is a member and past president of the Huntington Estate Planning Council, member and past and present chairman of the West Virginia State Bar Probate Committee, member of the West Virginia Law Institute on Intestate Succession, and a fellow and present State Chairman of the American College of Trust and Estate Council. Stout is also a member of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Committee of the American Bar Association, where he serves as West Virginia's sole representative on this committee, which deals with recent legislation and recent probate and trust court decisions.
Stout has been on the Board of Trustees for The Huntington Museum of Art, and is currently serving on the Board of the Cabell Huntington Hospital Foundation and on the Board of the Cabell County Public Library. Stout served as instructor of the paralegal program at Marshall University from 1993 through 1996.
In addition to serving in numerous legal organizations and committees, Stout has spoken at numerous continuing education seminars, and has written various articles and publication updates.
