CHARLESTON -– Charleston attorney and former House of Delegates member Dan Greear has announced the support of current and past legislators as he seeks the Republican nomination for the office of Attorney General.
Greear filed for Attorney General several weeks ago and has received broad support among Republican leaders and activists across the state.
"I am humbled and truly honored such an impressive group of Republican legislators are now on our side," Greear said. "I believe this shows the vast majority of Republican leaders in our state strongly believe I present the best opportunity to defeat Attorney General Darrell McGraw in November."
Many legislators have offered their full support including helping to organize fundraisers in their hometowns. The Greear team has planned multiple primary campaign fundraisers across the state.
"Our first hurdle is to win the primary. With the support of this ever growing list of Republicans leaders across the state and with the backing of our large network of volunteers, our campaign is off to a great start."
Greear believes he will eventually receive endorsements of legislators in both parties since both Democrat and Republican legislators have expressed anger with the current Attorney General due to McGraw's history of allocating settlement funds.

Greear is a lifelong resident of Kanawha County, graduating from South Charleston High School in 1986 as a National Merit Scholar. He graduated from the WVU College of Law in the spring of 1992 where he also served as associate manuscript editor for the West Virginia Law Review. He served in the West Virginia House of Delegates representing Kanawha County's 30th District in 1995 and 1996.
He currently resides in South Charleston with his wife Amy, a social worker for Kanawha Hospice Care, and their two children, Joshua, 8 and Ben, 6.
