HUNTINGTON -– West Virginia's largest teacher and education employee organization, with tens of thousands of members, has endorsed Huntington Attorney Menis Ketchum for the West Virginia State Supreme Court of Appeals.
"As a former member of Marshall University's Board of Governors, we know Menis Ketchum understands how important education is to West Virginia," WVEA President Charles Delauder said. "We were particularly impressed with his commitment to work with prosecutors, teachers and parents to find ways to improve our legal system in order to keep kids from becoming career criminals."
"I'm proud and honored to have the support of the West Virginia Education Association," Ketchum said. "Education has always been such an important part of my life and the lives of my children. I know how hard teachers work and the sacrifices they make in order to give our kids the future they want and deserve.
"I look forward to working with teachers, representatives of law enforcement and the courts in order to find new and innovative ways to keep kids out of trouble and out of jail," added Ketchum. "As a society, we pay a heavy price for kids who drop out of school and end up on the wrong side of the law. Increased jail cost, higher welfare, and increased crime are the price we pay if we fail our kids."
"Menis Ketchum will be a Supreme Court Justice we can all be proud of," added Delauder.
