PERSONNEL FILE: Nickerson named Foundation Fellow

CLARKSBURG -– Gary W. Nickerson, a member in the law firm of Steptoe & Johnson, has been named Foundation Fellow by the West Virginia Bar Foundation.

Nickerson concentrates his practice in the representation and counseling of employers in workers' compensation and related employment matters. He serves on the firm's Executive Committee and is the Managing Member of the Clarksburg office.

Nickerson is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America in the field of workers' compensation law. He serves on the Board of Governors of the West Virginia State Bar, and is a member of the West Virginia State Bar Committee on Workers' Compensation, the West Virginia State Chamber of Commerce Workers' Compensation Committee and the West Virginia Self-Insurers Association.

Within his community, Nickerson has served as president of the Bridgeport Kiwanis, deacon of his church and vice president of the Friends of the Bridgeport Library. He remains active in youth sports, having previously coached baseball for twelve years and currently assists in coaching a girl's fast pitch softball team. He serves as president of the Bridgeport High School softball boosters and has sponsored teams for Babe Ruth Baseball, fast pitch softball, and summer league young men's basketball.

Nickerson joins other Steptoe & Johnson fellows Robert M. Steptoe, Jr., James M. Wilson, Ralph J. Bean, Jr., Lucien G. Lewin and Patrick D. Deem.

The Fellows Program recognizes outstanding leaders of the legal profession and justice system in West Virginia. Those lawyers whose professional, public and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the welfare of their communities and honorable service to the legal profession with the individuals selected reflecting the diverse nature of the legal profession in West Virginia are eligible for the award.
