Mott Bentley
CHARLESTON -- The West Virginia Department of Administration has announced that Rebecca Mott Bentley has joined its legal staff as assistant general counsel.
A graduate of Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio, Mott Bentley received a B.A. in political science in 1999. Mott Bentley also graduated from Capitol University Law School in Columbus, Ohio, where she received her Doctor of Juris Prudence in 2005.
Before joining state government, Mott Bentley was an associate with Plank & Brahm in Columbus, practicing in the area of real estate law. She also worked for The Robert Weiler Company, a commercial real estate company in Columbus specializing in brokerage, appraisal and development services.
Before that, she worked for the Ohio Consumers' Counsel, the state residential utility advocate and as a legal extern for the Ohio Secretary of State's office in the Elections Division.
On the federal level, Mott Bentley worked as a law clerk extern for the Honorable George Smith, a U.S. District Court Judge in Columbus and for Sen. George Voinovich and former Sen. Mike DeWine.
Mott Bentley is licensed to practice law in Ohio and West Virginia. She's also an Ohio licensed Realtor.
The Department of Administration oversees many service-related agencies in state government, including Aviation Services, Board of Risk and Insurance Management, Children's Health Insurance Program, Consolidated Public Retirement Board, Finance Division, General Services Division, Prosecuting Attorneys Institute, Public Defender Services, Purchasing Division, Public Employees Grievance Board, Public Employees Insurance Agency, Real Estate Division and Office of Technology.
