State Law Library to host health care directives workshop

CHARLESTON -– The State Law Library will present a free "brown bag" workshop titled "Health Care Directives" at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 27.

The featured speaker will be Charles F. Conroy, former professor of political science at West Virginia University and recently retired from the state Bureau of Senior Services, where he was chairman of the committee that wrote West Virginia's end-of-life legislation.

The session will focus on the legal choices a person may face in his or her own medical care decisions. Topics for discussion will include living wills, medical power of attorney, healthcare surrogate, and other advance medical directives.

The workshop will be held in the State Law Library, Building 1, Room E-404 in the East Wing of the State Capitol Complex. It is open to the public, and no registration is required.

Metered parking is available on California Avenue and behind the Cultural Center near the parking garage.
